Hoping for Flowers

With Valentine's Day arriving tomorrow, I'm almost relieved that my husband is out of town.  Not because he's not the love of my life... but because every year, he presents me with a giant box of chocolates.  And every year, I eat the whole thing, almost before the "thank you" has faded from my lips.

My self-control is still faulty right now.  One sweet is enough to set me off on a bender, even if it isn't a particularly good sweet.

I'm hoping for flowers.  Or a card.  A card would be perfect.

I feel like I should turn in my membership to womanhood card.  Sigh.

Bluuuuuugh.

I'm so congested that my eyes look like crusty slits, and I only managed sleep by sitting upright on the couch last night.  Exercise is a thing of the past, and I'm totally all about tea. 

At least 99% of my Christmas preparations are done.  And we survived celebrating my youngest's recent 4th birthday with no hitches.  Well, except for the fact that of 17 yes RSVPs only 4 showed.  These are not things we worry about, though.

I'm going to take some Sudafed and get myself moving.  I know I left half the week unfinished on my menu.  That is how it has been this week.  I'll finish it in a special bonus edition later this evening. 

3 AM

Well, good morning, ClubMommers!  It's a very dark 3 AM right now, and I'm awake because it is too painful to sleep.  I've contracted the cold that my kids brought home from school (week three!) and I feel like my face has been kicked in. 

This is doing wonders for my food cravings, of course.  I have no appetite, and I can't taste anything - so why bother eating? 

I'm going to be trying to get rid of this cold as rapidly as possible.  I've been taking Airborne every three hours since I started to feel horrible, and I've been eating garlic with every meal (lovely, I know) - I suspect it might be not be enough.

In any case - I'm going to try to sleep sitting up, and see if I can't get some rest before the dawn breaks. 

At BlogHer 2006!

It's day one here at BlogHer, and we're having a little ClubMom blog reunion.

I'm sitting with Anne-Marie, Dawn, and Jenn at a session that promises to help us make our blogs even prettier and more accessible.  I can't wait to put some of this stuff into action!

Of course, I can't type for anything, since I put on fake nails for the occasion, and it's making me very, very slow.

We had a healthy spread for breakfast - I had a wonderful croissant and some coffee.  I planned to eat melon, but with all my social butterfly grace, I sent my slices of melon tumbling to the carpet, and then spilled my coffee trying to retreive them before they were noticed. 

Sigh.

I'll try to update frequently while I'm here.  We're having a wonderful time.
